Dinner

Last night we had Bonza, Sarah, Andrew, Mark Tasker, and Allan around for a potluck tea. We had a fantastic dinner, and a great time of fellowship.

There was much food, fooseball, and fun. We at the flat have decided to try to make these kind of dinners a weekly occurrence. Yay!

Fashion is an Ass

I in no ways mean to offend people in this post - so ain't nobody take some offence.

I went clothes shopping yesterday, and was surprised by the the complete trash that was available. I think all this years fashion for men are the rejects from last year. It seems that jeans with stupid looking rips in them, shirts with holes in them (or ones that look inside out, or have hideous 'mistakes' of printing on them) are all that you can buy. And do we get a discount for inferior quality clothing? No. Jeans still at the lowest $70. I mean seriously people. You want me to buy clothes with rips and holes in them and pay through the nose?! Once again we see the moronic nature of fashion that some people are slaves to.

So after going through all the standard mens clothing shops in New Lynn, I popped over to Save Mart. God bless Save Mart. I found a nice shirt and jeans and paid $15.

A Joke

Late one night a mugger wearing a ski mask jumped into a path of a well-dressed man and stuck a gun in his ribs "give me your money," he demanded. Indignant, the affluent man replied, "you can't do this – I am a Labour Member of Parliament!" "In that case," replied the mugger, "give me MY money."

A New Car & How Cool Japanese People Are

My frequent trips out to Titirangi have prompted me to purchase a car that is cheaper on the gas, since our nasty stinking tricksy thieving government stole some more money from us precious, in the form of new gas tax. My 155 will remain in the garage - I will not sell it, but it will come out on special occassions.

My new car is a 2 door 1990 Nissan Sentra. I'm not sure what else to say about it. It's not an Alfa which is a huge negative, but being a 1.4L it should be nice and economical. The guy I bought it off got me a new warrant and fixed what was wrong with it, and brought the price down to $750, so I'm quite happy.

In other news....as you know my sister Louise is currently two months in to a nine month stint in Japan. She emailed me yesterday, and one thing I found rather amusing was this:-

Last night I was introducing myself in English and stuff and I showed them a photo of my family....I said, This is my older brother Scott and the whole room erupted in oooooooooh aaaaaaaaaaaahs and I was like what? and Ruth translated and said they thought you were soooo good looking..That`s like the second or third time that has
happened....

Maybe I should go and live in Japan.

About Flaming Time

Yes indeed. As the title suggests, it's been a little while between posts. However I assure you that in betweem this post and the last - I attempted to post twice, but blogger was not working at both those times.

Mr Mouse seems to have died - is that ok? Last time I have evidence of him living was when I woke up a week or two ago, and heard something in my bin. I sat up and heard the pitter patter of feet running under my door. But I think he/she is now dead - probably in the wall or something. Yuck.

In other news, I have chucked out all my mp3s and cds which were copied. I had meant to do this a long time ago, because I have for a long time been convinced it's wrong. I guess I just didn't have the guts to do it. But now I have. I feel good. I also got rid of games which were copied. So this means I have a lot more space in my cd storage area, but i will probably rapidly fill this.

MCS Fundraising Concert

Well well well.

Last night I took part in a fundraising concert for Manukau Christian School (formally St Andrews Christian School). It was a fantastic evening. The item I was involved in was called Homage to Beatrix Potter. Jono and I played clarinet. Dawn Louman was on bassoon, Debs was on the oboe, and Alisa of course was on the flute.

The highlight of the evening for me however, was Schubert's last piano sonata which was played most beautifully. I might just go out and see if I can score this sonata on cd - it was so moving.

More on Mr Mouse

We politely gave him som cheese with peanut butter on it, and put it on a wooden plate with a large spring and metal bar arm last night. But he hasn't touched it yet. However, the green poison bait has been half eaten.

I'm a slack bum - but my garden is cool!

OK people. Here's the deal.

I have three strawberry plants planted in the front old retaining wall, and a chilli plant.

In addition to this coolness, I have taken seeds of my dill plant, and planted them in a tray, with some beetroot seeds.

Unfortunately my mint and dill have been attacked by some ferocious little things - I'm not sure what. Raa. Will have to get onto this situation, and issue some final judgement on the culprit.

Oh and in other news, we have a new flatmate. Mr Mouse. He is very timid, and we haven't seen him. He doesn't pay rent, and he steals other flatmates Easter eggs. We are moving to evict him. More on this as news comes to hand.
